Dolomite is a sedimentary rock, a close cousin to limestone. If limestone turns into a metamorphic rock, it becomes marble. If dolomite turns into a metamorphic rock, it becomes dolomitic marble. Saying dolomite isnt marble doesnt really make sense, but thats ok. One neednt be a geologist to understand basic stone properties.
